(Play) a reading series

Initiated in Fall 2015 by Assistant Arts Professor Ayşan Çelik, New York University Abu Dhabi Theater Program’s (Play) a reading series is an ongoing curated engagement with scripted plays. From informal stop-and-start table-reads, to rehearsed public presentations followed by a panel of experts, and everything in between: (Play) is a chance for the NYUAD community to experience significant works of playwriting and the questions they ask about the world.

On October 8, 2017, at 8pm, in a singular (Play) event, we are proud to participate in Climate Change Theatre Action 2017 with staged readings, featuring students, faculty and staff, of the following plays:

Chantal Bilodeau, HOMO SAPIENS
Amahl Khouri, OH HOW WE LOVED OUR TUNA
Elaine Ávila, BRACKENDALE
Kasaya Manulevu, THE CALL
Hassan Abdulrazzak, AMERICAN NIGHTMARE
Abhishek Majumdar, 399
Keith Josef Adkins, F3s AND PURPLE FELDSPAR
Katie Pearl, APPRECIATION
Elyne Quan, POND LIFE
Maya Zbib, SARDINES
E.M. Lewis, START WHERE YOU ARE
Jordan Tannahill, NOCTURNE

Following the readings, we will also engage in a public conversation with a panel of climate change theater activists Sarah Cameron Sunde, Abhishek Majumdar and Una Chaudhuri, moderated by Environmental Studies and Public Policy Professor Sophia Kalantzakos.
