Carmen Rivera is a New York-born, Puerto Rican playwright and screenwriter. Her play, La Gringa, was part of the OBIE Award Winning Series – New Voices – premiered in 1996 and is now the second longest-running play in Off-Broadway history, after The Fantasticks. Both English and Spanish versions are available at Samuel French / Concord Productions. She is also co-director of Educational Play Productions (EPP), which brings plays about social issues into the Public Schools.
