Monica Hoth von der Meden was born in Mexico in 1958. She is a playwright, a puppeteer, and a cultural manager who has received a variety of prizes and accolades, notably the Premio Nacional for Literature by INBA/Conaculta (2001) – Theatre for Young Audiences for the play Marina and the Bird Men, Citation of Excellence in the Art of Puppetry by UNIMA USA for A History of Elves and Other Realities, and a variety of regional prizes for literature in narrative and theatre (2005, 2010). She is currently a member of the National System of Creators-FONCA, 2018-2021.
