AN EVENING OF THEATRICAL AND MUSICAL PERFORMANCES

The Better Path Coalition is excited to announce an evening of climate theatre and music, to be presented on Sunday, October 1st, in Harrisburg, PA, as the culminating event of Day One of this year’s Pennsylvania Climate Convergence.

A program of six short plays will be presented in conjunction with Climate Change Theatre Action, a global festival that promotes the worldwide performance of theatre pieces about the climate crisis and is designed to bring communities together to take action on climate. This year’s event will coincide with the COP 28 conference scheduled to take place in Dubai.

The six plays chosen for performance at the Convergence don’t look away from the impacts the climate crisis is having on our individual lives. But at the same time, they seek out and focus on moments of tender compassion, courageous reckoning, and passionate collective action, stimulating us to respond to the crisis with renewed energy and commitment. As the CCTA website puts it, “the climate crisis demands [an] imaginative leap; we will create a just and regenerative world only if we dare to imagine it first, and use that vision to guide us through the difficulties.” Theatre can help us take that leap.

The plays will include “Now” by Wren Brian, “Cassandra Drowning” by Nathan Joe, “Hummingbird’s Ululation” by Aleya Kassam, “Types” by Jessica Huang, “Hurricane” by Juan Sanchez, and “Third Degree” by Karen Elias.

Annville-based singer/songwriter Matt Miskie will be our musical guest.

The event, which is free and open to the public, will take place from 8 to 10 pm at the Grace United Methodist Church located at 216 State Street, Harrisburg. Please join us!
