CCTA x The Year of Water: Play Readings for Change

Nov 172019

Presented by Climate Change Theatre Action, Columbia University School of the Arts, Theatre Program, and Columbia University, the Year of Water.

The climate is changing and the time to act is now.

Theatre has an important role to play in galvanizing the public to take individual and collective action through storytelling. Through a series of short play readings followed by a panel discussion from industry experts, this event aims to provoke thoughtful discussion and reflection on the issues of climate change: how these issues directly relate to water and how artists tackle these themes, both in their work and their personal lives.

Featuring original short play readings by Columbia playwrights Kanika Vaish (‘22), Greg Nanni (‘21) and Zizi Majid (‘20). It will also feature plays by international artists Caridad Svich (A LETTER FROM THE OCEAN) and Peterson Toscano (BIGGER LOVE).

Produced by Philippa Kane (Theatre Management & Producing ‘20), Rebecca Miller-Kratzer (Directing ‘21) & Jonathan Seinen (Directing ‘20).
