On October 31st, my Acting 2 students will be presenting five short climate change plays in Olin Studio 2. This is in the Women’s Building at Washington University in St. Louis.
These are simple staged readings with scripts in hand, and it is our modest contribution to the Climate Change Theatre Action project. Friend and colleague Joan Lipkin – the Artistic Director of That Uppity Theatre Company – will be in attendance.
Our hope is to have a look at the plays – total run time @ 35 minutes– and afterward, discuss the material, and perhaps even discuss the actor’s work in a supportive way.
Featured plays include:
Hassan Abdulrazzak – LAILA PINES FOR THE WOLF
Damon Chua – STEAMY SESSION IN A SINGAPORE SPA
Alister Emerson – SIX POLAR BEARS FELL OUT OF THE SKY THIS MORNING
Joan Lipkin – ABOUT THAT CHOCOLATE BAR
Steven Sewell – THE REASON
The students are: Soban Ahmed, Stephanie Berger, Naomi Blair, Nathaniel Holmes, G Hao Lee, Dennis Murray, Brylie Noe and Emma Thorp. Each of them is doing wonderful work within a short rehearsal period – only 2 classes! But their work is wide ranging! It is funny, provocative, haunting and maddening! Consider this an invitation to spend part of your morning with us. Bring your favorite beverage with you and enjoy the show.
This is important material for these young actors to encounter and bring to the stage. We hope you’ll enliven our work with your good presence. Hopefully, we’ll see you in the morning.
