The New York State Public Health Association (NYSPHA) celebrates the 56th Anniversary of Earth Day in Lake Placid, April 22, 2026. We welcome the North Country, and others statewide, to join us for a community gathering. We highlight the role of arts in the climate movement, and how you can spark community engagement.

Homo Sapiens – Performance of short play/skit written by playwright Chantal Bilodeau, founder of Arts & Climate Initiative.
A Hard Rains’ Gonna Fall – An interactive storytelling workshop around extreme flooding; designed and led by Cornell Public Health Professor, Dr. Danielle Eiseman with Kim Knowlton, NYSPHA/Third Act, and Indigenous Artist/Storyteller, Dave Fadden.

KEYNOTE: What You Need to Know About Climate Change: Evidence and Hope – Visually and simply explained by Paul Smith’s College Professor, Dr. Curt Stager.
Fiber Arts Tell a Climate Story!
Wool and Water Project – Dr. Michale Glennon, Professor, Paul Smith’s Adirondack Watershed Initiative; how she makes art from climate data.
The Climate Change Quilt Project – Dr. Pam Mischen, Professor, Binghamton University; how she builds community through quilt-making.
Concurrent Hands-on Workshops – Led by Professors Michale Glennon and Pam Mischen. No experience necessary.

Youth Panel on the Wild Center’s pioneering “Youth Climate Summit,” and what it’s like growing up with climate change in New York State’s North Country. Moderated by Garrett Marino, Wild Center, Climate Leadership Coordinator.
