Hamburg Players Climate Action Play Reading

Nov 262021

2021-11-26 @ 12:00 am

The Hamburg Players will focus their play-reading series in November on Climate Change by hosting a 2-hour long virtual event featuring a wide variety of climate change theatre plays from throughout the world. Each play chosen and read looks at climate change in a particular way and adapts it to the theatre using various methods of storytelling and performance.

After the playreading, we invite participants into a discussion of the connection between theatre and environment, the power of theatre in awareness raising and the envisioning of how the theme of these plays can be produced on a grander scale for the future productions. The Hamburg Players e.V. is the city’s oldest English-language amateur theatre group. Putting on a play three times a year is a team sport: it takes a dedicated cast and crew to put together each production.

Apart from the cast and director, many departments are involved in each play, such as sound, lighting, costumes, set-building, props, hair and make-up, prompting… the list goes on, and we are always happy to welcome new people on-board.
