A Climate Theatre Workshop
Join Wise Ram Theatre, the Carbon Literacy Project, and Theatre Green Book for this fun, friendly and welcoming session about the climate crisis and theatre’s response to it. Using a selection of Climate Change Theatre Action’s plays from the last ten years, we will explore how writing and staging plays about the climate crisis and environment has changed over time. We will include readings of Blood on the Leaves by Madeline Sayet, Friends for Life by Himali Kothari, and Brackendale by Elaine Ávila, and then explore together the themes through interactive activities, exploring both the creative challenge of staging the climate crisis as well as practical steps theatre makers can take to make their productions greener.
The space will be relaxed and explorative so don’t worry if you’ve never engaged with climate change plays or dramaturgy before. The workshop is suitable for anyone working in theatre and the creative arts in any role, as well as those pursuing it as a hobby, climate activists, students, or those who are just interested in exploring climate change through theatre! We will include time at the end to get (an optional) drink or ice cream, and to chat and network further.
