Performances
Students from the University of Victoria’s Theatre Department are proud to participate in Climate Change Theatre Action (CCTA), an international initiative that brings together playwrights and performers from around the world to spark conversation and inspire action on the climate crisis. As part of their THEA 103: Current Performance Practices course, UVic students will present 18 short plays selected from the CCTA collection, each offering a unique artistic response to environmental challenges and global interconnectedness.
This project immerses students in a collaborative, production-focused learning experience. Some students take on the role of director, guiding the artistic vision and interpreting the CCTA texts, while others contribute through design, technical production, stage management, and performance. Together, they create a dynamic series of theatrical moments that highlight diverse voices, cultural perspectives, and urgent ecological themes.
Through their participation in Climate Change Theatre Action, UVic theatre students engage directly with contemporary performance practices, explore the role of the arts in social movements, and develop their skills as emerging theatre-makers committed to meaningful, community-oriented work.
