Performances
A mini-showcase of environmental arts featuring a live reading of The Penguins by Elspeth Tilley, alongside video stories from performance-makers in the Pacific and Polar regions. Screened works include an excerpt from ‘Gudirr Gudirr’ by Indigenous Australian dance-theatre company Marrugeku; and ‘Rise: From One Island to Another’, performed by Kathy Jetñil-Kijiner (Marshall Islands) and Aka Niviâna (Greenland). The 20-minute showcase will run three times for museum visitors, followed on each occasion by a brief discussion inviting audiences to share experiences and ideas about family-centred climate action.
The showcase is jointly presented by the CoastARTS UK team, Border Crossings intercultural arts company, and the National Maritime Museum, as part of a multi-country project on environmental arts and coastal crises.
