Free and open to the public, this event will provide a unique, immersive experience for those community members in attendance: there will be guided walking tours of the University of Southern Mississippi’s Marine Education Center property (situated along a beautiful coastal bayou), staged dramatic readings of one or more CCTA plays, short film and documentary screenings, brief presentations of undergraduate service-learning projects, and community partner information booths. The event will conclude with a panel of USM marine scientists discussing the potential effects of climate change on the Mississippi Gulf Coast’s marine-based communities and economies.
This event will feature a film adaptation of Hassan Abdulrazzak’s LAILA PINES FOR THE WOLF as well as a staged dramatic reading of Hanna Cormick’s CANARY.
