Anna Maria Nabirye

Anna-Maria is a British Ugandan multidisciplinary artist. Nabirye co-founded Afri-Co-Lab, a creative community dreaming space in her hometown St. Leonards-on-Sea, and slow fashion brand AfroRetro. As an actor, her credits include The National Theatre, Shakespeare’s Globe, The Almeida, BBC, and Film4. Nabirye is a passionate educator and has directed, taught, and created programs for theatre, music, and visual arts institutions.  Her current work, Up In Arms, makes space for transformative conversation in interracial friendships. Co-created with Annie Saunders, it has been commissioned by The De La Warr Pavilion, UK and includes a social practice experience, solo exhibition, film, and performance. They are currently working on a book of the project.
